It is my absolute joy to welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year at Urbana Elementary! Whether you’re returning to our Hawk family or joining us for the very first time, please know how thrilled and honored we are to have you with us. There’s something truly magical about the start of a new school year, the fresh energy, the new opportunities, and the excitement that fills our halls. We can’t wait to begin this next chapter with you.
At Urbana, we live our values as HAWKS: Hardworking, Accountable, Wise, Kind, and Strong. These aren’t just words on a wall. They’re at the heart of everything we do. These values shape the way we treat one another, how we learn together, and how we care for our scholars, staff, and families every single day.
This year, we’re continuing to build on the strong foundation we’ve created together. Our focus remains on developing the whole scholar, academically, socially, emotionally, and in character. Every day, our scholars amaze us with their curiosity, resilience, and willingness to grow. Whether they’re tackling a challenging new idea, helping a friend, or expressing themselves through art, music, or movement, Urbana scholars are truly soaring.
Our theme for this year is: "Together We Soar: One Team, One Vision, Every Scholar!" Inspired by Jon Gordon’s book, The 7 Commitments of a Great Team, this message will guide us as we deepen our commitment to unity, purpose, and collective growth. Throughout the year, we’ll be introducing these commitments to our scholars, families, and staff to help foster a culture of teamwork, positivity, and empowerment. When we come together with a shared vision, there’s no limit to what we can achieve.
We believe deeply in the boundless potential of every child, and it’s our mission to help each one soar. Our amazing team is committed to delivering high quality instruction, building a safe and inclusive school environment, and providing the care and encouragement every scholar needs to thrive.
Just as important as what we do in school is the partnership we have with you, our families. When we work together, incredible things happen. I encourage you to stay connected with us: join the PTA, volunteer when you’re able, or simply reach out with a question or idea. Your voice matters here, and your involvement strengthens the heartbeat of our community.
